REBATES

Electric Heating Systems

Rebates:

• Heat pumps, air source, with electric backup: $225 per ton.
  residential heat pumps typically have 1-1/2 to 5 tons of heating capacity.
• Heat pumps, air source. with non-electric backup:$250 per ton.
• Heat pumps, ground source: $300 per ton.

Requirements:

• Space being heated must meet efficiency standards (R-values, ceiling plus walls: existing home - 30, new home -49. Heat pumps also must meet minimum performance standards.
• Heat pump rebate apply to new and replacement installations.
• Rebate application must be completed within 180 days of installation.
• Energy audit of home is required.

Electric Water Heaters

Rebate:
$50 (Tri-State), plus $20 per unit from Y-W. Additional $50 wiring allowance if converting from fossil fuel.

Requirements:

• Minimum 40 gallon size
• Applies to new or replacement units.
• 2.5 KW minimum size.
• Rebate application must be completed within 180 days of installation.
• Energy Factor (EF) 0.90

Electric Motors

PLUS: A Tri-State wiring assistance payment of $1.50 per HP is added to the basic payment if motor replaces a fossil-fueled engine, or if it is a new installation.

Requirements:

• Applies to installation of new or used motor from 10 HP to 200 HP,
  which is to operate for a minimum of 3 months each year.
• Down-sized motors qualify for the full rebate.
• Rebate application must be completed within 180 days of installation.

Service Area

Y-W provides electric service to most of Yuma and Washington Counties, Colorado.

Y-W's headquarters with construction and maintenance crews are located in Akron, Colorado. Additional collection points are located in the Town Offices of Otis and Eckley, Colorado. Y-W is proud of the quality of service that it provides and has a major warehouse and service crews located in Wray, Colorado. The electric service area is divided into 7 areas with two service personnel living and working within the area.

Interesting Facts

Incorporated in June 1945, Y-W Electric began operation in 1948 with 978 members and served 72 miles of line. We are proud to say that we have grown to serve approximately 3,700 members, 8,205 meters and maintain 4,190 miles of line.

The board of directors of Y-W is made up of 9 members who are elected for a three year term by the membership at its annual meeting held in either March, April, May or June.

There is currently 45 employees that live, participate in, and help support the communities within the two county area served by Y-W.

Y-W Electric is a rural electric distribution cooperative providing electricity for its members. Tri-State Generation and Transmission Association, Inc., is the wholesale electric power provider.
